2016: The Year of Collaboration, Not Competition

Hello 2016!

The New Year always feels like a fresh start and JaneCane Photography has a lot to look forward to in the coming year! I always set these big, lofty resolutions that keep me motivated for a few days, but tend to disappear by the end of January (My gym membership is giggling right now …) but this year I promised to give myself grace and allow the ugly, the messy, the unscripted to be okay. I’m letting go of the “what ifs” and welcoming all the scary “Why Nots”. I’m focusing on a year of growth + a chance to raise others up around me, together strengthening the community we are living in.

As a born and raised Duluthian, I have a deep love for this community and the amazing small business warriors hustling to make their dreams a reality. I am so very fortunate to have made great industry friendships + be able to truly say that Duluth offers a unique refuge of collaboration over competition.

But in any business, it’s good to have a friend who knows exactly what you’re going through on the bad days + celebrates with you on the best days. Enter this gorgeous gal below – fellow Duluthian and total girl boss – whose love for the North Woods, authentic words + positive energy drew me immediately to her. Then add the fact that Bailey is an insanely talented photographer over at Bailey Aro Photography and it was a no-brainer: We became instant friends, both in the industry and over late night pints of beer, discovering that we felt strongly about similar topics in our businesses. We started the conversation about society’s view of women, the social expectations of our physical images and how our own self esteems were being affected by the world around us. It quickly became clear that we had a mission: empower women, show them their natural beauty + spread education about the power of Boudoir.

So … with HUGE excitement, JaneCane Photography (in collaboration with Bailey Aro Photography) is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand new, gorgeous, natural light boudoir studio in Downtown Duluth! :: Cue the confetti and all the happy face emojis :: We are so excited to provide luxury experiences for all women, while always having champagne on hand + Beyoncé music on the ready. Through this shared space, we will continue to operate our own separate photography businesses, but together empowering a community of amazing women.

This means that with the new studio, I will be able to offer full boudoir sessions (as well as more mini sessions!) in a comfortable, discrete + beautiful space. Each session will include professional hair + makeup artists that will enhance your natural beauty, while you sip on champagne and pick out your favorite Pandora station, followed by a relaxed, laugher-filled session with yours truly. Each client will be provided with an enjoyable, customized and luxurious experience.

Currently, my January 17th Boudoir Mini Sessions have one spot remaining and my April 3rd date has three spots remaining. I will not be planning another boudoir mini session until late summer/fall at this point. Full experience boudoir sessions will also now be offered year round, starting at $600 and always including professional hair + makeup, as well as your carefully edited images in a password protected gallery with digital downloads and the print release.
